The Musik Blok board consists of individuals who alturisitically bring knowledge, experience and passion to the project.
Paul Mason
Paul Mason is specialist music consultant, with experience in broadcasting and government.
From 2009 - 2019 Paul was the Director, Music the Australia Council for the Arts, leading the design and implementation of strategies and funding programs for music.
Since 2019 he has worked independently advising artists, organisations, government and industry clients on strategy, project management and business planning. In addition Paul is the manager of composer, performer and cultural leader David Bridie. Paul is also a director of the Peggy Glanville Hicks Composers House Trust, and a member of the advisory board of the Electronic Music Conference.
Paul was a board member of Sydney’s Radio FBi 94.5 from its establishment to the year 2000 when the station was awarded its permanent broadcast licence. Between 2004 - 2007 he was Chair of Music NSW, the state based contemporary music service organisation.
Dr. Jane Ryan
Jane Ryan is a technically qualified Non-Executive Director Viral Vector Manufacturing Facility.
She has a strong international career and experience at Board and Executive level in business development, capital raising, M&A, partnering, ASX and NASDAQ reporting.
Additionally, Jane has strong governance experience in listed, not-for-profit, government statuary bodies and unlisted companies.
Jane has held executive roles at Sementis, Biota (now Vaxart), and Peptech. In addition to her role with VVMF, Jane is also currently: Non-Executive Director – IDT Australia (ASX: IDT) and Non-Executive Director – Bionomics Ltd (NASDAQ: BNOX).
Jane has previously held roles as a Board Member of Carriageworks, Sydney, Diabetes Australia, Victoria; TechInSA, Victorian Endowment for Science, Knowledge and Innovation (VESKI) and Anatara Lifesciences. Jane has a PhD in Immunology / Biochemistry and was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Pharmaceuticals at Columbia University.
Ngaire Joseph
4 time ARIA nominee Ngaiire has performed at Glastonbury to Splendour In the Grass as well as opening and performing with Sampha, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Sufjan Stevens, Flume and Hiatus Kaiyote .
Her work has seen her collaborate with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and the Australian Art Orchestra. As an artist she also exhibited her first sound installation at the Art Gallery of NSW entitled ‘3’ that ran adjacent to the 2020 Archibald exhibition.
Ngaiire has also enjoyed collaborations with the Marrugeku Dance Theatre, African American contemporary artist and sculptor Nick Cave and Tasmanian sound design artist Chris Townend.
As founder of Musik Blok, Ngaiire’s passion for music education has taken her to the National Press Club in support of Jenny Morris’ 2020 address as well as music workshops conducted in various colleges and schools around America and the Pacific.
Paul Grabowsky AO
Paul is a pianist, composer, arranger, conductor – and is one of Australia’s most distinguished artists.
He is the Executive Director, Performing Arts, at the Monash Academy of Performing Arts and has written the scores for more than 20 feature films in Australia, the UK and US.
He is the founder of the Australian Art Orchestra and has won four ARIA awards, two Helpmann awards, several Bell Awards and a Deadly award. He was the Sydney Myer Performing Artist of the Year in 2000, and was Artistic Director of the Queensland Music Festival from 2005-2007 and the 2010 Adelaide Festival.
Paul was appointed Vice-Chancellor's Professorial Fellow in the Monash School of Music in July 2012. In 2014 he was awarded the Order of Australia (AO) for services to music as an educator, a mentor, composer and pianist.
Daniel Segal
Based in Goroka (home of Musik Blok) Daniel runs Wan Maus, a local catering and food projects business focussed on seasonal produce and providing training and opportunities for locals interested in a hospitality career.
Daniel has served as the president of the Randwick Botany Rotary Club for 2 consecutive years and holds a Bachelor of Visual Communications (Graphic Design) from the University of Technology Sydney.
Since 2010, he has successfully collaborated with a wide range of clients, delivering impactful brand management, graphic design, web and print production, and marketing campaigns.
Some of the notable brands he has worked with include British Airways, Goldman Sachs, Rebel Sport, Dyson, Sanofi Aventis, CNBC, and Laser Clinics Australia.
Maddison Phillips
Madison Phillips (She/Her) is a marketing and communications specialist, creative storyteller, and arts advocate with a passion for connecting people through narrative. With a decade of experience across music, theatre, and dance, Madison has worked with leading regional and urban arts organisations in both Australia and Canada.
She currently works remotely as the Marketing & Communications Manager for Four Winds, a world-renowned music organisation on Djiringaj Country (NSW, Australia), where she leads campaigns that champion First Nations voices, support emerging artists, and bring music to communities in deeply place-based ways. She also works as Marketing Coordinator for The GRAND (Calgary, Canada) - one of Canada’s oldest and most iconic performing arts venues, and continues to freelance under Daily Ceremony, a creative house for brand storytelling, writing, and photography.
Additionally, Madison sits on the board of FLING Physical theatre, a leading youth dance organisation on the NSW South Coast that amplifies the voices, ideas, and stories of young people through bold, original performance.
