Papua New Guinea is home to one of the most culturally and linguistically diverse populations on Earth. For generations, music, story and knowledge have travelled along our rivers, across our mountains and between our islands.
Musik Blok is building new pathways for that exchange.
In 2026, we proved the idea with our inaugural Songwriting & Production Lab in Goroka — bringing together emerging PNG artists with some of Australia's most respected musicians, producers and industry minds for ten days of making, learning and cultural exchange.
Now, we're building on that foundation.
Musik Blok creates spaces for artists from Papua New Guinea and around the world to meet, make, listen and experiment — bringing together people, practices and musical worlds that might otherwise never cross paths.
Our programs take different forms, but they share the same principles: genuine cultural exchange, PNG hospitality, artistic curiosity and the belief that knowledge moves in every direction.
We don't believe Papua New Guinea needs to leave home to be part of the global conversation.
The world can come here.
THE WORLD COMES HERE
Meet the Founder
“This project brings together tradition and innovation. It’s about honouring who we are while building the future we want.”
Founder and program director Ngaiire (rhymes with fiery) always knew she’d come back to Papua New Guinea to give back to her community after building an impressive 20 year long career in the Australian music industry. Ngaiire has performed at Glastonbury in the UK, Splendour In the Grass as well as opening and performing with Sampha, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Sufjan Stevens, and Flume.
Now based between Sydney and Goroka, Ngaiire is committed to building sustainable pathways for the next generation of PNG artists and creators.

“I am so grateful to have been part of the Musik Blok Mentorship Program. My time in Goroka was truly life-changing.
As a new artist only a few months into rapping, being selected for this program was an incredible opportunity. Working alongside the mentors and fellow artists opened my eyes to how much there is to learn about the music industry…I left the program with new skills, fresh perspectives, and an even greater passion for developing as an artist.”

“Having the privilege of being part of Musik Blok in PNG has been truly astounding. Programs like this are the beating heart of creative communities, giving artists valuable practical skills, industry knowledge and the confidence to believe that their voice has a profound impact on the world.
The connection between mentors and artists was profound and genuinely life-changing, creating an environment where growth happened both musically and personally.
The impact of this program will stay with these artists for the rest of their careers. The impact of a program like this extends well beyond the experience itself, continuing to shape artists, their communities, and the creative landscape around them”

“What’s so strong about this program is its emphasis on passing musical knowledge to emerging artists. The exposure to high-calibre mentors makes a world of difference. The mentors that Ngaire brought in were top-notch in their musicality, musicianship and character. Without the right mentors, you don’t get much out of an initiative like this, but Ngaire completely nailed it.”

“Taking part as a mentor in Musik Blok was nothing short of being one of the most transformational creative and cultural experiences I have had in my 25 year long career in the music industry. The opportunity to write and create music with Papua New Guinea's most exciting emerging artists was a deeply nourishing creative experience that taught me so much about cross cultural collaboration, gratitude and presence. The music created in the program is truly world class and I can't wait to see the careers of the participants grow and flourish.
Ngaire's increibdle vision of the program was a breath of fresh air. Equal part creative and professional as well as eye opening and culturally rich. We are blessed to have people like Ngaire at the helm of creative developments such as Musik Blok and am honoured to have been involved in the pilot”
